What is otoplasty?
Ear sculpting (or otoplasty) changes the size and shape of ears for people of all ages. Most commonly, it involves making overly large ears smaller or securing protruding ears closer to the head. This reconstructive procedure is most commonly performed on children between the ages of 8 and 20.
What does otoplasty do?
An otoplasty begins with the surgeon making small, inconspicuous incisions behind and on the ears. Excess cartilage is either removed or reshaped and the remaining cartilage is sutured. The outpatient procedure takes about two hours to complete.
